Guernsey may only measure 25 square miles but it is bursting with natural beauty. We are also lucky enough to have the islands of Herm and Sark a short boat ride away, and Alderney a little further north. A heady mix of stunning scenery and the best of contemporary living, Guernsey is the perfect destination. Inspiring walks along the cliff paths, rambles through the rural interior or lazy days on the island’s beautiful beaches, Guernsey has it all.
St Peter Port, the island’s capital, is a bustling harbour town, a tapestry of architectural styles that tell the story of the region’s changing fortunes. Here bistros, restaurants and boutiques jostle for your attention, while in the harbour ferries are readied to take you to the sister islands.
Ask anyone who’s been here. Guernsey is a special place, a thriving community that welcomes its visitors with open arms and leaves a lasting impression on all who set foot on her soil.

CURRENCY - The currency in Guernsey is sterling. The States of Guernsey issue their own notes and coins, but all UK notes and coins are legal tender.
Travel Insurance and Healthcare in the Channel Islands - Since 31st March 2009 the reciprocal healthcare between the Channel Islands and UK has been dissolved. Anyone travelling to the Islands, which include Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, will be required to pay for medical treatment should they become ill or injured there after this date. Visitors should therefore take out adequate insurance before they travel and the policy should include cover for emergency medical expenses plus repatriation in order that all treatment costs can be claimed. Please note that the European health Insurance card does not extend to include the Channel Islands. We are not authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and cannot therefore recommend any specific insurance provider although we have used World First Travel Insurance in the past and you may find that they have cover that is suitable to your needs.

DRIVING - Driving is on the left hand side. There is a maximum speed enforcement of 35 miles per hour, with further restrictions in Parish Centres and some coastal areas in the summer months.
PARKING - Parking in Guernsey is free and operates on a Disc Parking Scheme. Parking Discs are available from the Housekeepers or Condor Ferries & Tourist Information Desks at the Airport and Harbour.
SHOPS - On Sundays and Bank Holidays most of the larger supermarkets and town shops are closed except for corner shops and the smaller convenience stores attached to garages. Visitor Attractions are mostly open 7 days a week during the main visitor season.

CLIMATE - The climate is temperate with mild winters and sunny summers.
ELECTRICITY - Electricity is supplied at 240 volts (50 hertz). An adapter is needed if travelling from Continental Europe.
MOBILE PHONES - You should make sure with your phone provider before leaving home that you have a Roamer contract allowing you to use your mobile in Guernsey. Phone cards are available around the Island. To dial a Guernsey number the code is '01481' to dial out of the Island you must use the UK area code before the number.
